Liberal
Democrats are committed to reducing crime and violence, to
making sure our courts and prisons work, and to defending
peoples civil liberties. To
create safer communities with fewer victims of crime we will
fund an extra 6,000 police officers nationally for our cities,
towns and villages.
Yvonne
Emmerson-Peirce said: "The number of Police Officers
in Wiltshire has decreased over the years, with 40 fewer since
Labour came to power in 1997. It is vital for people to feel
safe. Having extra Bobbies on the Beat reassures people and
creates the feeling of a safer environment. I want to see
more local community police and better partnerships with education,
health and social services. I also believe we must tackle
the growing drug culture. Problems that are ignored don't
go away; they grow".
