Local Tory Candidate is confusing the electorate on Euro
The local Tory candidate said on his earlier Web page that he
would fight tooth and nail to keep the pound. On Saturday (last)the
Tories' Keep the Pound Dayhe openly campaigns with
the support of Sir Edward Heath the UK's most prominent pro European.
Yvonne Emmerson-Peirce says:
" He (Key) having been a researcher for Sir Edward was, until 1997
and the advent of UKIP, very pro Europenow he appears
to say he is anti. I accept that every politician has the right
to change his/her views as time moves on. However he now appears
to be breaking his own party policy by openly campaigning with Sir
Edward whose views could not be clearer.
Given that the local Tory candidate has refused to accept my Head
to Head challenge, and declined the NFU invitation for all main
party candidates to discuss policies, his position is very unclear.
His views at the Churches Together meeting were equally confusing
and appeared to pander to UKIP's views. It is about time he came
off the fence and made his position absolutely clear and certain.
This is a very important issue and our policy for at least eight
years has been to have the earliest possible referendum and let
the people decide; not transitory politicians. I fully support such
a policy and welcome honest debate based on fact not Labour propaganda
and manipulation or Tory scaremongering. Whatever the people decide
I shall fully support whichever way the decision goes."
