Emma Nicholson MEP to visit Salisbury

Emma Nicholson—a prominent MEP—is to visit Salisbury on 2nd June at 10.00a.m for a walkabout with Yvonne Emmerson-Peirce. The walkabout will commence at 10.00am in the Market Square and will be for approximately 90 mins.

Biography:

Emma was elected MEP for SE England in 1999.

Her portfolio includes:

  • First Vice President on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defence policy
  • Whip for European Parliamentary Party
  • Member and Co-ordinator EU-ACP (African, Caribbean & Pacific) joint Parliamentary Assembly

She was Vice Chairman and MP for the Conservatives and then Liberal Democrat for Devon West and Torridge 1987 to 1992 and 1992 to 1997

She founded and is President of AMAR—a charity formed to provide medical humanitarian and Education aid to Iraqi Marsh Arabs. It covers 90,000 refugees in Iran, Palestine, Lebanon and Rwanda.

She is Patron or holds other honorary positions in over 50 charities.
